Skarsnuten and Tuv Hemsedal invite you to a pleasant evening on Tuesday, February 3, at 6:00 PM, with something good in your glass and the lecture BERGTATT by Tormod Granheim.

Fredrik Geelmuyden is one of the founders behind the Tuv Hemsedal project. With a lifelong love for the mountain village, he will give a brief introduction on how his passion for the mountains has shaped his career and grown into a heartfelt project at Tuv in Hemsedal.

Tormod Granheim is a unique storyteller of high mountains and the human encounter with nature, with family roots on his father’s side in Hemsedal. He is a renowned Norwegian adventurer, skier, climber, and photographer, with a career combining extreme expeditions and artistic expression — whether on skis, crampons, climbing ropes, and always with a camera in his backpack. Tormod takes us on journeys to Mount Everest, the Himalayas, the Alps, the Norwegian mountains, and right here in Hemsedal.

BERGTATT is a lecture for anyone who loves life in the mountains, all the activities and experiences it offers, and how the changing seasons and weather affect us when we meet nature.

We look forward to welcoming you to an evening full of adventure, inspiration, and mountain joy!

Tormod Granheim (1974) is a renowned Norwegian adventurer, climber, skier, and photographer, with a career that combines extreme expeditions and artistic expression. He has achieved several historic feats in mountain sports and is recognized as a unique storyteller of high mountains and the human encounter with nature.

Tormod has a background in steep skiing and climbing, and gained international fame after climbing Mount Everest in a single day and becoming the first person to ski down the mountain’s North Face. Later, he became the first Nordic climber to summit all 82 Alpine peaks over 4,000 meters. He has developed an extremely fast climbing style and holds Norwegian speed records to the top of many mountains.

Tormod’s grandfather came from Granheim in Hemsedal, and the family had a cabin at Storefjell throughout Tormod’s childhood. As a youth, he would sit in the cabin window, gazing over Golsfjellet toward Skogshorn and the magical mountains of Hemsedal. Here, he completed some of his first ascents and ski descents before turning his sights to the wider world.

Tormod is now training as an art photographer and continues his adventures with a camera in his backpack, exhibiting his stunning mountain photography at Galleri Daidda in Oslo.

Fredrik Geelmuyden (1968) is a Norwegian entrepreneur and businessman who fell in love with Hemsedal in his teenage years and has returned to the mountain village whenever he could for nearly forty years. In 2004, he left a career in the tech industry behind and moved to Hemsedal to be closer to the mountains, skiing, climbing, the wind sweeping through the Skogshorn massif, and the crackle of an open fireplace. He lived in Hemsedal from 2004 to 2008 and worked for SkiStar from 2004 to 2016.

In 2017, together with his wife Nina Kristine, he founded the explorer cruise and adventure company Norwegian Adventure Company, specializing in experiences in the Arctic North and along Norway’s coast. They were early pioneers in developing backcountry ski tourism in Northern Norway, including the Arctic Haute Routeski & sail product in 2012.

In 2018, he and Tore Espe launched the Tuv Hemsedal, with the vision of creating Scandinavia’s coziest alpine village at Tuv, rooted in their shared passion for Hemsedal and mountain life.

Tuv Hemsedal

At Tuv, centrally located in Hemsedal, Scandinavia’s coziest alpine village is being developed, featuring functional apartments, a grocery store and dining options, tailored services, and immediate access to nature, the mountains, and Hemsedal Ski Centre.

In September 2025, the first phase of the project was launched, with construction planned to begin in summer 2026, including 43 holiday apartments, grocery and dining facilities. Hemsedal local Øyvind Holsen serves as the company’s CEO. He has extensive experience in the tourism industry, both locally in Hemsedal and nationally.

Tuv Hemsedal is a project that shows how a passion for the mountains can become a career, innovation, and exciting development opportunities for the entire village. Learn more about Tuv Hemsedal at www.tuvhemsedal.no
