A warm welcome to the Winemakers Dinner at Skarsnuten Mountain Resort & Spa!
We are proud to welcome Russell Joyce from California, USA, to Hemsedal.
Russell Joyce, the man behind Joyce Wine Company in Monterey, California, is a producer who has become a benchmark for cool-climate wines, known for precision, energy, and a clear coastal influence. These are wines that taste of sea breeze, stone, and long growing seasons, where freshness and vitality always take precedence over weight and “cellar tricks.”
At this Winemakers Dinner in Hemsedal, you’ll experience more than just wine in your glass – you’ll hear the stories, choices, and philosophy behind it: why Monterey can deliver some of the most elegant wines California has to offer, how they work in the vineyards, and what Russell truly means when he talks about balance and terroir. The style is lean and precise, often with a saline minerality, razor-sharp acidity, and incredible food-friendliness – perfect for an evening where kitchen and wine work in harmony.
In short: a rare opportunity to taste Joyce wines as they are meant to be experienced – at the table, with the winemaker present, and fresh mountain air in your lungs.
*Only a limited number of seats available.
The presentation will be held in English.

From the racetrack to the vineyards – Russell Joyce
Russell Joyce is not your typical winemaker. He grew up with soil under his nails in Carmel Valley, California — from pulling weeds in the family vineyards to pressing grapes in a home micro-winery. What started as a playful curiosity quickly became a calling, shaping the soul and style of Joyce Wine Co.
Russell is self-taught, uncompromising, yet open-minded — his philosophy is to let the terroir speak before the cellar. Using organically grown grapes from Monterey County and years of hands-on work in production spaces and on the historic Ventana estates, he crafts wines that capture the unique climate, minerality, and energy of the place.
On Saturday, January 31, you’ll have the chance to meet Russell in person — hear the stories, taste the wines, and experience why his creations have become small cult favorites among enthusiasts. An evening of genuine winemaking spirit, true terroir, and authentic conversations.
